Register for upcoming PNR classes
Summer can be a chance to catch up on some continuing education. The PNR has two classes coming up in August. Each class qualifies for both Medical Library Association CE credit as well as for Consumer Health Information Specialization (CHIS).
Class: From A(norexia) to Z(its): Providing Health Information to Teens
Those who work with teens will be provided with an introduction to teen health resources. The class will present an overview of health information needs of teenagers and their information seeking behaviors, review communication skills needed during reference interviews with teenagers, and explore credible health information resources that are designed for teens. The class is made up of pre-class reading, a webinar, and class exercises.
(3 MLA CE credits)
When: August 2 – 18, with webinar portion August 3 from Noon – 1:00pm Pacific Time, class exercises due August 18

Class: Making Sense of Numbers: Understanding Risks and Benefits and Learning How to Communicate Health Statistics
This class is a basic introduction for anyone who wants to understand how to communicate health information that involves numeracy. The purpose of this class is to understand risk and benefits from a layman’s perspective and to understand that the communication of numbers must be clear and easy to understand.
