Duodenal adenomas (DA) can progress to high grade dysplasia (HGD) in 21% of cases. When> 2 cm in size, more than half can harbor invasive cancer. Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) patients are at high risk for duodenal cancer arising from DA. Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) is generally the preferred treatment but is associated with an overall adverse event rate of 26%, primarily from bleeding, particularly those>3 cm in size (incidence 33-58%). Cryotherapy using the focal cryoballoon ablation system (C2 Cryoballoon ®, Pentax) can safely and effectively eradicate esophageal intestinal metaplasia with dysplasia.

Opinion statementThe symptom prevalence in patients with advanced cancer depends on the type of primary cancer, and the palliative treatment varies according to the nature of the primary cancer. Palliative treatment for unresectable skin cancer has not been fully discussed. Patients with unresectable skin cancer sometimes show the primary lesion in the skin and metastases to the lung, skin, liver, and bone. Pain, anorexia, and dyspnea commonly occur in such patients, and bleeding, exudate, and offensive odor are characteristically observed. For the last three symptoms, surgery and radiation are effective therapeutic option...

Abstract BACKGROUND: Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is a significant health problem in premenopausal women; it can reduce their quality of life and can cause social disruption and physical problems such as iron deficiency anaemia. First-line treatment has traditionally consisted of medical therapy (hormonal and non-hormonal), but this is not always successful in reducing menstrual bleeding to acceptable levels. Hysterectomy is a definitive treatment, but it is more costly and carries some risk. Endometrial ablation may be an alternative to hysterectomy that preserves the uterus. Many techniques have been developed...

Discussion Gastrostomy tubes (GT or GTubes) have been used to support patients for about a century. They are placed between the abdominal skin and the stomach either percutaneously or surgically. The tubes can be a standard long tube with either a bumper or inflatable balloon internally and externally they have a retention piece to hold the GT in place. A button or low profile tube are similar but extend just beyond the skin. Reasons for GT placement include: Nutritional support Hydration maintenance Medication management Aspiration avoidance Gastric stasis decompression Obstruction bypass Quality of life improvement for...

ConclusionThe new computer-controlled cooling therapy device provides benefits in terms of early post-operative remobilisation with respect to ROM and pain, which might be attributed to a reduced inflammatory response, as well as reduced secretion and bleeding. The cTreatment ® system appears to be a safe and efficient procedure.
