Panoramic findings in patients enrolled in the dental education in the care of persons with disabilities program (decod)

People with developmental disabilities represent a diverse group who on average experience high rates of untreated dental decay and periodontal disease. Some developmental disabilities are known to impact craniofacial development and structures (e.g., Down syndrome) while others are not expected to have specific craniofacial manifestations (e.g., autism). Obtaining diagnostic panoramic radiographs for many patients with developmental disabilities can be challenging, whether due to a movement disorder, dental fears, or difficulty following instructions related to positioning.
