Highlights from the June 2017 PWW XI Leadership Conference

The PWW XI Leadership Conference took place Tuesday June 6th in Clearwater Beach, Florida.  The PWW Executive Institute is a one-day workshop with sessions tailored for executives, chiefs, top-level managers, owners and leaders interested in high-level views and discussions about the industry of ambulance industry finance, reimbursement, compliance and human resource management.    Previous sessions were held in March and April of this year, and the session in Florida marks the third and final in this season’s sessions. Highlights from day one: An incredible keynote from Jerry L. Ross, a Retired NASA Astronaut – who spoke to attendees about key characteristics of effective leadership and teamwork. Amanda Ward, PWW Attorney, spoke about five common compliance mistakes made by public agencies. One of the key takeaways was the message that billing is only one piece of the compliance puzzle – and failing to recognize this can lead to overpayment, refunds and bad publicity.  Ward also emphasized the importance of protocols, documentation and conducting background checks.   Christie Mellott discussed the 10 most difficult EMS personalities – and how to effectively deal with them.
