LGBT Pride Month 2014: Build Our Bright Future

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month Celebration Event The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is committed to honoring the diversity of its workforce and ensuring employees are treated with respect, dignity, and inclusiveness. June 1, 2014 marks this year’s beginning of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month celebration. This celebration is authorized by proclamation from President Barack Obama who calls “upon the people of the United States to eliminate prejudice everywhere it exists, and to celebrate the great diversity of the American people.” The theme of the event is Build Our Bright Future, which highlights future efforts to continuously foster the broadest diversity in the most inclusive environment. HHS is honored to have Senator Tammy Baldwin, (D) Wisconsin, providing the keynote address and Perry Rhew, Department of Homeland Security Pride Co-founder, providing the opening remarks.
