Abstract Chronic nonspecific low back pain (CNLBP) is defined as pain or discomfort originating from the waist, which lasts for at least 12 weeks, but no radiculopathy or specific spinal diseases. CNLBP is a complicated medical problem and places a huge burden on healthcare systems. Clinical manifestation of CNLBP includes discogenic LBP, zygapophyseal joint pain, sacroiliac joint pain, and lumbar muscle strain. Further evaluation should be completed to confirm the diagnosis including auxiliary examination, functional assessment, and clinical assessment. The principle of the management is to relieve pain, restore ...

ConclusionsThe present study showed that NSCLBP patients did not present higher fatigability or higher fatigability asymmetry in lumbar muscles than asymptomatic participants. The heterogeneity of the NSCLBP population, due to the absence of any specific etiology, may explain these findings.Graphic abstractThese slides can be retrieved under Electronic Supplementary Material.

Conclusion: The statistical analysis characterized chronic low back pain patients and identified factors contributing to a treatment response. Thus, this retrospective statistical algorithm represents an elegant method, which may contribute to future strategies toward a more individualized and improved mechanism based pain therapy.

HtrA1 upregulates the expression of ADAMTS-5 in HNPCs via the ERK/NF-κB/JNK signaling pathway. Am J Transl Res. 2019;11(8):5114-5121 Authors: Li D, Wu Y, Wu Y, Ni C, Jiang P, Li J, Mao L, Zheng Q, Yue J Abstract Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is a form of chronic inflammation and is one of the most common disorders reported to be involved in low back pain (LBP). The pathophysiology of degeneration is not completely understood, but the consensus is that the degradation of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins in the disc is the leading factor contributing to IDD. High temperature requirement...
