Periprosthetic Joint Infection Is the Main Cause of Failure for Modern Knee Arthroplasty: An Analysis of 11,134 Knees.

CONCLUSIONS: In this large cohort of patients with comprehensive followup of revision procedures, PJI was the dominant reason for failure during the first 15 years after primary TKA. Aseptic loosening became more important with longer followup. Efforts to improve outcome after primary TKA should focus on these areas, particularly prevention of PJI. Authors: Roberts SB, Calligeros K, Tsirikos AI Abstract This narrative review will summarise a clinical approach to the investigation of back pain in children and adolescent patients, including a discussion of the epidemiology, presentation, investigation and clinical management of back pain in children and adolescents. This will assist the prompt and accurate diagnosis of spinal disorders that require significant medical intervention. Existing evidence suggests a relatively high incidence of non-specific back pain among young people; 27-48% of presentations of back pain in children and adolescents are attributed t...

Conclusion. Both ACF and PCF showed significant clinical improvement of radiculopathy. In the ACF group, the DH decreased, and CL decreased during the early postoperative period. Radiological parameters were preserved in the PCF group after surgery. However, this group showed greater intraoperative bleeding and revision rates. Care should be taken to manage complications according to the specific surgical treatment. Level of Evidence: 3

Study Design. Prospective research in middle-aged and elderly people. Objective. To investigate low back pain (LBP) and neuropathic pain (NeP); spinal alignment and range of motion (ROM); spinal degenerative changes in plain radiography; osteoporosis; muscle strength; and physical ability as possible risk factors for poor quality of life (QOL). Summary of Background Data. The aging of society has led to an increase in elderly people with chronic pain, including LBP and NeP. However, there has been no analysis of NeP and spinal sagittal alignment as potential risk factors for decreased QOL in the healthy general pop...

Conclusions. Because GAP score correlated with Oswestry Disability Index and increased proximal junctional angle 2 years after surgery, GAP score might define targets for sagittal spinopelvic alignment for favorable outcomes of corrective spinal surgery. A large preoperative global tilt is a potential predictor of poor postoperative GAP score. Level of Evidence: 3

Study Design. Retrospective cohort study. Objective. To identify age-related changes in cervical sagittal parameters using standard radiographs. Summary of Background Data. Cervical sagittal balance is important for the maintenance of neutral head posture and horizontal gaze. Degenerative changes in the cervical spine that occur with aging may alter cervical sagittal balance, which can lead to chronic neck pain and predispose to various cervical spine pathologies. Methods. We performed a retrospective cohort study of 151 patients with lateral cervical spine radiographs taken at our institution between December 2...
