Molecular imaging of tumor microenvironment to study synergistic effects of therapy with doxorubicin and CAMs

Conclusion: Although the treatment with black cohosh showed no therapeutic effect in our in vitro studies, we noticed significant changes in tumor metabolism and angiogenesis in vivo. The most intriguing finding was that the intake of BC alone was capable of changing the tumor microenvironment by increasing the metabolic rate and decreasing angiogenesis. More work remains to be done to further elucidate the therapeutic potential of BC and other CAMs with current chemotherapeutics.
