Medicaid programs could take a $1.4 trillion hit

Medicaid, the federal health program that serves 70 million low-income and poor Americans, could be cut by as much as $1.4 trillion over the next decade, if the new budget proposed by President Donald Trump is enacted. It’s unlikely that Congress will approve the 2018 budget released May 22, but it sends a signal that the administration is aiming for “safety net” programs in its budget, NPR reports.
