An elegans solution: Worm genetic screen maps cell-to-cell communication in human cancer

(Medical University of South Carolina) In the May 22, 2017, issue of Developmental Cell, researchers at the Medical University of South Carolina Hollings Cancer Center developed a cross-species genetic screen in worms to follow cell-to-cell communication in human cancer. The genome-wide screen is being used to chart a roadmap between mesodermal cells and epithelial cells in the tumor microenvironment.
