Vertex launches college scholarship program for cystic fibrosis patients, families
Vertex Pharmaceuticals has launched a new college scholarship program for people affected by cystic fibrosis, the debilitating and often fatal lung disease that the Boston-based company has spent decades trying to tackle.
Vertex (Nasdaq: VRTX) said Friday it had awarded $5,000 each to 40 students nationwide — 26 cystic fibrosis patients and 14 immediate family members — for a total of $200,000. The scholarships will help to pay for two-year, four-year and graduate degrees.
