Certification guidelines and qualification courses.

[Certification guidelines and qualification courses]. Radiologe. 2017 May 12;: Authors: Loose R, Wucherer M Abstract German regulations require a license for using ionizing radiation in medicine. This license-called "Fachkunde"-varies for different medical procedures such as CT, fluoroscopy, radiography, or mammography. The required frequencies and training times also vary for different medical disciplines such as radiology, cardiology, vascular surgery, traumatology, nuclear medicine, and radiotherapy, among others. The quality criteria for a specific license require a minimum training time under supervision and a minimum frequency of a wide range of procedures. Depending on the radiation doses used and the complexity of procedures performed, this may go up to 5000 examinations and 36 months for a radiology resident. A refresher course is mandatory every 5 years. PMID: 28500447 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ConclusionSurvival of fat cell grafts and the breast lipofilling complication depends on the techniques used to harvest and then injecting the fat into the receiver site. However, the preliminary results should be confirmed in larger series, and the radiographic follow-up of women undergoing breast lipofilling should be standardized to ensure reproducibility and improve patient safety.Level of evidenceLevel V, therapeutic study.

ConclusionsWith six stereotactic 9-gauge vacuum-assisted biopsy specimens a final histopathological biopsy diagnosis could be established in 95% (95%CI 90%-98%) of the biopsy procedures. Taking nine 9-gauge specimens seems to be optimal. Ending the stereotactic vacuum-assisted breast biopsy procedure as soon as calcifications are retrieved may cause false negative results.

This article presents a novel and completely automated algorithm for the detection of microcalcification clusters in a mammogram. A multiscale 2D non-linear energy operator is proposed for enhancing the contrast between the microcalcifications and the background. Several texture, shape, intensity, and histogram of oriented gradients (HOG) –based features are used to distinguish microcalcifications from other brighter mammogram regions. A new majority class data reduction technique based on data distribution is proposed to counter data imbalance problem. The algorithm is able to achieve 100% sensitivity with 2.59, 1.7...

AGFA Digital Radiography X- Ray system DR 800 with MUSICA Dynamic Product Usage: The Agfa s DR 800 system is indicated for performing dynamic imaging examinations (fluoroscopy and/or rapid sequence) of the following an anatomies/procedures: positioning fluoroscopy procedures, gastro-intestinal examinations, urogenital tract examinations, and angiography. It is intended to replace fluoroscopic images obtained through image intensifier technology. In addition, the system is intended for project radiography of all body parts. The DR 800 is not intended for mammography applications.

Conclusion: The breast-cancer screening performance of DM is similar to that of SFM. The diagnostic performance of DM depends on the study design, and, in terms of performance, full-field DM is superior to SFM, unlike computed radiography systems. PMID: 31281732 [PubMed]

Our purpose was twofold. First, we sought to determine whether 2 orthogonal oriented views of excised breast cancer specimens could improve surgical margin assessment compared to a single unoriented view. Second, we sought to determine whether 3D tomosynthesis could improve surgical margin assessment compared to 2D mammography alone.
