The objectives of our study were to (i) examine the rate of vesico-ureteral injury at benign hysterectomy by surgical approach and (ii) compare the risk of vesico-ureteral injury specifically between minimally-invasive laparoscopic and abdominal hysterectomy on a populational level.DesignRetrospective population-based observational study.SettingThe National Inpatient Sample.Patients501,110 women who underwent hysterectomy for benign gynecological disease from 1/2012-9/2015 were included: total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH, n=284,365 [56.7%]), total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH, n=60,410, [12.1%]), abdominal supracerv...

ConclusionsThe PCV-VG mode of ventilation limited the peak inspiratory pressure, decreased the driving pressure and increased the dynamic compliance compared to VCV in obese patients undergoing laparoscopic hysterectomy. PCV-VG may be a preferable modality to prevent barotrauma during laparoscopic surgeries in obese patients.

ConclusionIn clinical routine severe complications occurred in 1%. The latter were unrelated to pectopexy, but occurred due to concomitant procedures or adhesions. The overall operating time as well as the operating time for pectopexy were similar to those reported in published studies on sacrocolpopexy.

CONCLUSION: The etiology of chronic groin pain post hernia repair is related in part to nerve injury. This is supported by the high frequency of sensory symptoms and numbness in these patients. However other factors including the role of tissue injury and inflammatory postoperative changes need to be considered. ConclusionIn selected cases, endoscopic management is more cost-effective, minimally invasive, has less post-operative complications, and leads to a more expeditious recovery. Therefore, the role of therapeutic endoscopy for gastric perforations secondary to foreign bodies should always be considered.
