Physicochemical factors of the urine of children with hypercalciuria.
CONCLUSIONS: Our results show that children with hypercalciuria without lithiasis associated show an increase in natriuresis, phosphaturia, uricosuria, magnesuria and citraturia. We found no differences between these urinary abnormalities when compared hypercalciuric children without lithiasis with those with hypercalciuria and urolithiasis. Conclusions Encrustation of retained stents is a preventable phenomenon which can lead to significant morbidity. Indwelling time and history of stone disease are predictive of degree of encrustation. Upper coil encrustation increases complexity of management, more often requiring multiple procedures.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global public health concern and a key determinant of poor health outcomes. While the burden of CKD is reasonably well defined in developed countries, increasing evidence indicates that the CKD burden may be even greater in developing countries. Diabetes, hypertension, and obesity are major contributors to the global burden of the disease and are important traditional CKD risk factors; however, nontraditional CKD risk factors such as nephrotoxin exposure, kidney stones, fetal and maternal factors, infections, environmental factors, and acute kidney injury are also increasingly being recogn...
The study of diagnostic imaging use after procedural intervention for nephrolithiasis is limited. We sought to characterize actual national imaging patterns and longitudinal trends after ureteroscopic or shockwave lithotripsy.
Shockwave Medical today released results from the Disrupt below the knee study of its Shockwave Lithoplasty system designed to treat peripheral artery disease, touting low rates of residual stenosis and low vascular complications. Data from the study was presented at the annual Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe congress in Copenhagen, Denmark. “Interventional procedures that involve moderate and severe calcium can be complex, unpredictable and costly. The previous Disrupt PAD Study demonstrated that Lithoplasty addresses many major concerns in the treatment of problematic calcium i...
Conclusion In conclusion, on the basis of our results, an association exists between urolithiasis patients and subsequent osteoporosis diagnosis. Though the clinical mechanisms are not fully understood, patients who had urolithiasis history may need regular follow up of bone marrow density.

ConclusionYoung adults are subject to repetitive CT imaging to monitor urogenital, intestinal, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic disorders during non-operative management to detect and follow up abdominal emergencies requiring surgical intervention and to assess post-surgical complications. In this population, the risk of accruing high cumulative radiation exposure should be considered.
Abstract OBJECTIVES: To disclose the link between the composition of urolithiasis, especially that of uric acid calculi, and obesity, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and hypertension. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Patients who had urinary calculi and underwent surgical treatment were registered in the study. The composition of urinary calculi was analyzed and correlated with clinical features and biomedical profiles of the patients before surgical intervention. RESULTS: A total of 666 patients with urolithiasis who underwent surgical management were registered and analyzed. In those who had uric acid cal...
