Jeff Clawson, MD, MPDS Creator - Recognized at 2017 NAVIGATOR Conference

It was 38-years ago when Dr. Jeff Clawson created the MPDS System as a young, pre-med student, and the innovative system was introduced to the world in the February 1981 issue of JEMS. Clawson's system of properly (Priority) triaging/dispatching EMS resources on a multi-priority basis based upon information presented by a caller to 9-1-1 (often confused and excited) enabled specially trained dispatchers, utilizing carefully and medically-vetted scripts and questions (originally on alphabetically- ordered by chief complaint on a system of flip cards in a carefully and efficiently-designed flip tray (and now computerized and integrated into computer-aided dispatch systems all over the world) to calm callers, systematically interrogate callers, and provide important pre-arrival instructions.
