SummaryAnaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK), which belongs to the insulin receptor tyrosine kinase superfamily, plays an important role in nervous system development. Due to chromosomal translocations, point mutations, and gene amplification, constitutively activated ALK has been implicated in a variety of human cancers, including anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (ALCL), non-small cell lung cancer, and neuroblastoma. We evaluated the anti-cancer activity of the ALK inhibitor KRCA-0008 using ALCL cell lines that express NPM (nucleophosmin)-ALK. KRCA-0008 strongly suppressed the proliferation and survival of NPM-ALK-positive ALCL ...

In this case report, we identify a non-classical paraneoplastic pemphigus (PNP) foliaceous related to an undifferentiated uterine sarcoma. The patient is a 54-year-old female with a past medical history of arthritis who presented with worsening fatigue in November 2017 and an itchy, blistering, erythematous annular plaque that first appeared on her...

CD58 loss is known to occur due to both genetic and non-genetic causes; therefore, we hypothesized that restoring CD58 expression in lymphoma cells may be an effective treatment approach. To explore the potential for restoring CD58 expression, we first screened 11 B-cell lymphoma lines and found that 3 had decreased CD58 expressio...

Conclusions: Salvage chemotherapy (often with rituximab and radiotherapy), followed by HDT and stem cell transplantation, appears to be the standard real-world treatment for rrPMBCL. However, large prospective and retrospective studies are warranted to improve our knowledge of real-world treatment patterns. PMID: 31951774 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ConclusionsCollectively, the current clinical data indicate pathological markers of miR-95, SGK1, Erk1 in human CRC cases, and further experimental findings reveal that anti-CRC pharmacological mechanism using genistein was implicated in suppression of cellular miR-95, SGK1, Erk1 expressions. Together, genistein may be a promising bioactive compound for treating CRC.

This study adds to the body of evidence in describing incidence and type of cardiac events experienced by an allogeneic and autologous HSCT population at one institution from 2012-2017. Sixty-five patients (9.8%) experienced cardiac events, including atrial arrhythmia (N = 39), acute heart failure (N = 9), acute coronary syndrome (N = 7), new onset hypertension (N = 9), with a few instances of bradycardia, ventricular arrhythmia, pericardial effusion, and pericarditis. Our multivariable regression analysis identified age (older), creatinine (higher) and history of coronary artery disease to significantly correlate with ris...

We report a very rare case of LAM with malignant lymphoma. A 51-year-old female had medical history of recurrent pneumothorax and nephrectomy for a left renal angiomyolipoma and was diagnosed with LAM by video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery at the age of 30. She presented with left neck mass. Computed tomography and magnetic response imaging showed multiple enlarged cervical lymph nodes. 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) showed abnormal uptake in the mass. We suspected a malignant tumor or extrapulmonary lesion of LAM, and performed surgical biopsy. Pathologically, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma ...
