DuméeAbstractNano-perforated graphene sheets have emerged as exciting two-dimensional materials for a broad range of scientific and commercial purposes, due to their modified physicochemical properties as compared to native graphene materials. Nanoporous graphene sheets as a class of two-dimensional materials with thicknesses ranging from sub-nanometre to few tens of nanometres, possess high specific surface areas and porous mesh st...

Geels, Gadi Rothenberg, Ning YanAbstractThe direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide using sustainable energy and molecular oxygen is a promising alternative approach to the conventional batch synthesis. Here we present a manganese and nitrogen co-doped carbon material which catalyzes the selective reduction of dioxygen in an acidic environment to hydrogen peroxide. The onset potential is close to 0.7 V, with>98% H2O2 selectivity in the range of 0.7–0.5 V vs RHE. This is the highest reported to date, ...

In this study, we synthesized SWCNTs with growth interruption, where only Ar, Ar/H2, or Ar/H2/H2O was introduced during a pause in the supply of a carbon source, in order to examine the effects of additive molecules in a chemical vapor deposition process. This interrupted growth was performed in combination with an isotope labeling technique to show the time evolution of individual SWCNT growth. While the introduction of Ar during the growth interruption tended to terminate SWCNT growth, the introduction of Ar/H2 resulted in the regrowth of SWCNTs once ethanol was reintroduced. When interrupted with Ar/H2/H2O, SWCNTs were ...

The objective of this study was to evaluate the potential analgesic action of 8% capsaicin cream for topical use in patients with myofascial pain syndrome. METHODS: Initially, cream formulations of PLA (Placebo) and CPS (Capsaicin 8%) were developed and approved according to the current requirements of the health authority agency. The 40 participating patients were randomly assigned to the PLA and CPS groups in a double-blind fashion. Before the creams were topically administered, according to the allocation group, the local anesthetic was used for a period of 50minutes directly in the area of interest. The cream was a...

Authors: Maziak W, Osibogun O, Asfar T Abstract Introduction: Waterpipe (WP) smoking is an important public health problem that is rapidly evolving globally. Much of WP spread among youth is being perpetuated by a misperception of reduced harms compared to cigarettes. Increasing awareness about WP smoking harms through health warning labels (HWLs) represents a promising policy and regulatory strategy to curb WP smoking. Areas covered: Peer-reviewed publications indexed in PubMed and CINAHL were searched in March 2019. This review focuses on the current knowledge of WP smoking characteristics, its spread and pattern...
