Authors: Ye F, Cao W, Lin J, Du Y, Lan L, Dong Y, Zhu J, Zhou Q, Pan X, Lu Y, Zeng F, Xia B, Wang L Abstract To compare the clinical outcomes of intrauterine insemination (IUI) with or without ovulation induction (OI), IUI cycles from January 2008 to December 2017 in Zhoushan Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital were included, consisting of 455 natural cycles and 536 OI cycles. The overall clinical pregnancy rate did not differ between the two groups (P> 0.05). Stratified by OI medications such as clomiphene (CC), human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), the pregnancy rates ...

AbstractMenopur® is a highly purified, urine-derived, human menopausal gonadotropin containing both follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) activity. It is an effective option for controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) in assisted reproductive technology protocols and for ovulation induction (OI) in anovulatory infertility, and is associated with a different endocrine profile from that of recombinant (r) FSH in these settings (in terms of serum levels of FSH, androgens and/or estradiol). When used for COS in women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), Men...

Abstract BACKGROUND: Letrozole is widely employed as ovulation induction agent in women with PCOS, but its use in mild stimulation (MS) protocols for IVF is limited. Aim of the present study was to evaluate the feasibility of a MS protocol with letrozole plus hMG in non-obese PCOS women undergoing IVF after a metformin pre-treatment. METHODS: We retrospectively evaluated the data of 125 non-obese PCOS undergoing MS with letrozole plus hMG, 150 IU as starting dose, (group 1, N = 80) compared to those undergoing a conventional IVF stimulation protocols (CS) (group 2, N = 45) pri...

Publication date: June 2018Source: Middle East Fertility Society Journal, Volume 23, Issue 2Author(s): Islam Mohamed Magdi Ammar, Mostafa Abdo Ahmed SalemAbstractBackgroundAdequate and optimum endometrial development is required for a successful pregnancy to occur. Clomiphene citrate is well known for its negative impact on endometrial thickness. The long-acting phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor, Tadalafil, was shown to improve endometrial growth in patients under Clomiphene citrate stimulation.ObjectiveTo study the effect of Tadalafil on the endometrial thickness in Clomiphene citrate stimulated cycles as compared to clomiphe...

Authors: Hayashi C, Chishima F, Matsumoto K, Kato E, Shinya K, Nakao T, Nakamura A, Yamamoto T Abstract Preservation of fertility has been recommended for cancer-bearing patients of reproductive age before undergoing cancer treatment. However, there are many considerations and it is difficult to preserve fertility for all patients undergoing therapy for malignancies. Female cancer survivors had lower pregnancy and live birth rates compared with others that underwent assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs). We should continue to consider the issue of infertility in patients who underwent therapies for malignancies...

CONCLUSION: Since the cause of OP is still unknown and it has no typical clinical manifestations, the present authors adopt blood P-hCG combined with B-ultrasound to improve the preoperative diagnosis. They prefer laparoscopic wedge resection of ovary or lesionectomy, which induce higher rate of intrauterine pregnancy and lower rates of ectopic pregnancy and infertility in re-pregnancy after surgery. CONCLUSION: Our results show that Epstein-Barr infection is possibly associated with autoimmune ovarian failure. The devastating impact on fertility in such disorder can be successfully avoided by in vitro maturation of oocytes from excised ovarian tissue. PMID: 29618356 [PubMed - in process]

Abstract It has been more than 15 years since the measurement of serum anti‐Müllerian hormone (AMH) first allowed the quantitative assessment of ovarian reserve. Meanwhile, the clinical implication of serum AMH has been expanding. The measurement of serum AMH has been applied in various clinical fields, including assisted reproduction, menopause, reproductive disorders and assessment of ovarian damage/toxicity. Well‐known findings about the usefulness of serum AMH revealed by numerous studies executed in the early era include decline with aging, a good correlation with oocyte yield in assisted reproduction, upregu...

Discussion regarding family planning is imperative in women with IBD with a strong recommendation to consider long-acting highly effective contraceptives such as intrauterine devices or implants. Cervical cancer screening should be tailored in women on immunosuppressive medications and all women under 26  years of age should be advised to receive the human papilloma virus vaccination.SummaryAs gastroenterologists will have longitudinal relationships with their female IBD patients, they must be knowledgeable about sex-specific issues during each stage of life from puberty to after menopause to optimize their patient ’s care.

Conclusions Except for the risk of premature ovarian failure, a rare adverse effect of combined treatments, both single-agent and multiagent chemotherapy can be safely administered to patients with a desire for childbearing. High-risk patients have worse reproductive outcomes because they undergo hysterectomy more frequently than low-risk patients.
