“Live in ‘parment.'” Back when Nat was transitioning out of school, at the beginning of his adulthood, we were able to learn from him that he wanted to liven in an apartment. For a year leading up to his turning 22, I searched for apartments that he could share with a roommate or two, and a live-in caregiver. I took him along. I don’t know which of us was more excited. Abstract An extremely sensitive and highly simple aptasensor was fabricated for quantitation of amyloid beta (Aβ) by electrochemical transduction of a fern leaves-like gold nanostructure. The gold nanostructure was synthesized by electrodeposition using polyethylene glycol 6000 as a shape-directing agent, and characterized electrochemically and by field emission scanning electron microscopy. A specific RNA aptamer was immobilized on the fern leaves-like gold nanostructure, and binding with Aβ was detected by the ferro/ferricyanide redox marker. The designed aptasensor was able to detect Aβ in a line...

We present evidence from previous works on the important phenotypic changes of various neuronal types in these neurological diseases. We also summarize efforts on conducting low- and high-throughput screening experiments with hiPSCs toward developing potential therapeutics for treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Lastly, we discuss the limitations of hiPSCs culture system in studying neurodegenerative diseases and alternative strategies to overcome these drawbacks.
