Site of care may partly explain survival difference between kids and AYAs with leukemia

(American Association for Cancer Research) Adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who were not treated at specialized cancer centers had significantly worse five-year survival compared with children with these cancers who were treated at specialized cancer centers, whereas AYAs treated at specialized cancer centers had outcomes comparable to children treated at specialized cancer centers.
