Conclusions Autoimmune and vasculitic causes should be considered in patients with chronic wounds who do not respond to appropriate vascular intervention and standard local wound care. A multidisciplinary approach with the involvement of rheumatologists allows investigation for underlying systemic disease and improves clinical outcomes for many of these challenging patients.

This study delves into the mechanisms by which a short period of fasting can accelerate wound healing. Fasting triggers many of the same cellular stress responses, such as upregulated autophagy, as occur during the practice of calorie restriction. CONCLUSIONS: RA was found to be increasingly reported in death certificates in the last two decades in Italy, although it is less frequently reported as the UCD. Due to the increased survival of patients, we observed a shift of RA-related mortality towards the elderly, making RA a comorbidity contributing to death in these patients.
