AbstractCirrhosis describes the development of excess fibrous tissue around regenerative nodules in response to chronic liver injury and usually leads to irreversible organ damage and end-stage liver disease. During the development of cirrhosis, the formation of collagenous scar tissue is paralleled by a reorganization and remodeling of the hepatic vascular system. Conclusions: A QPL, suitable for use in patients with liver cirrhosis attending hepatology outpatient clinics, has been developed and piloted. The QPL seems to be feasible to use and acceptable to patients and clinicians. Further work is needed to evaluate its effectiveness and to determine optimum delivery in clinical practice.

ConclusionsChronic treatment with simvastatin 40  mg/day in patients with decompensated cirrhosis was associated with several adverse events, being MI the only clinically significant one, which appears to be related to the simvastatin dosage and the degree of cirrhosis severity. DiscussionPatients with NCPVT had significantly higher risks of postoperative morbidity and mortality than patients with NCNPVT but less than patients with CPVT. Future studies with detail regarding the characteristics of PVTs are needed to confirm the findings in this study.
