Completing the Development of Ebola Vaccines: Current Status, Remaining Challenges, and Recommendations

University of Minnesota, Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy. 01/17/2017 This 50-page report focuses on six areas regarding Ebola vaccines: key readiness gaps, current progress on Ebola vaccines, remaining steps for the rVSV-ZEBOV vaccine, challenges for other vaccine candidates, hurdles for manufacturers, and leadership and coordination of vaccine efforts. It highlights the successfully completed field efficacy trial of the rVSV-ZEBOV Ebola virus vaccine, but it points out that, although this vaccine is furthest along the regulatory pathway, it is not yet licensed.
