Abstract: A 46-year-old man with papillary thyroid cancer post total thyroidectomy was referred for post radioiodine (131I) whole-body scan. Whole-body images revealed intense 131I uptake in the bed thyroid and a focal abnormal uptake in the testicular area. Subsequent SPECT/CT demonstrated that the focal uptake corresponded to the left epididymis, and the pathology report revealed a spermatocele with no immunohistochemical features for thyroid tissue. Many cases of unexpected radioiodine uptake have been reported, and spermatocele could be counted for another possibility of incidental 131I uptake despite an unclear mechanism.

We report here the three dimensional dose distribution resulting from a NPD incorporating AuNP labeled with electron emitters (90Y, 177Lu, 111In) of different energies using Monte Carlo based voxel level dosimetry. The MCNP5 dose model was used to assess differences in dose distribution from simulated NPD and conventional brachytherapy sources, positioned in breast tissue simulating material. We further compare these dose distributions in mice bearing subcutaneous human breast cancer xenografts implanted with 177Lu-AuNP NPD, o...

AbstractBackgroundImage-based measurement of absorbed dose of Ra-223 dichloride may be useful in predicting therapeutic outcome in patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). In general, SPECT has been found to be more accurate than planar imaging in terms of lesion-based analysis. The aims of this study were to assess the feasibility and clinical usefulness of Ra-223 SPECT.The energy spectrum of Ra-223 and SPECT images of a cylindrical phantom with a hot rod were obtained to determine the collimator candidates and energy window settings suitable for clinical Ra-223 SPECT (basic study A). Another phantom wit...

Conclusion: These studies demonstrate that 111In-DTPA-anti-PD-L1 is capable of identifying tumors that overexpresses PD-L1 and monitoring the impact of PD-L1–rich organs on the distribution of anti-PD-L1 antibodies.

Recent studies have shown enhanced tumor targeting by novel somatostatin receptor (SSTR) antagonists compared with clinically widely used agonists. However, these results have been obtained mostly in neuroendocrine tumors, and only limited data are available for cancer types with lower SSTR expression, including breast cancer (BC). To date, two studies have reported higher binding of the antagonist than the agonist in BC, but in both studies only a limited number of cases were evaluated. In this preclinical study, we further investigated whether the application of an SSTR antagonist can improve SSTR-mediated BC imaging in ...

Rationale: The spine is the most common site of bone metastases due to thyroid cancer; however, spinal cord compression as a complication of metastatic thyroid cancer is very rare. Patient concerns: A 48-year-old female patient was presented to the Neurosurgical Department, complaining of progressive back neck pain with bilateral upper extremities numbness and weakness for 4 months. Diagnosis: Imaging studies revealed osteolytic destruction in bodies and accessories of the second and third cervical vertebrae with a huge soft-tissue mass compressing spinal cord and causing swelling. After the neurosurgical decompression s...

Conclusion: MicroSPECT/CT image acquisition and analysis for thyroidal RAI uptake is greatly improved by our cradle and CTViewer software, respectively. Furthermore, our approach of superimposing thyroid VOIs from t24 images to select thyroid VOIs on corresponding aligned t1 images can be applied to studies in which the target tissue has differential radiotracer retention from surrounding tissues.
