We sincerely appreciate and agree with the Letter to the Editor. Indeed, partial nephrectomy (PN) is undeniably the mainstay treatment for localized renal tumors in the adult population. A significant shift toward increased use of nephron-sparing surgery (NSS) and minimally invasive surgery (MIS) to treat patients with renal cell carcinoma has been clearly documented, and is based on several reasons including similar oncological outcomes, lower risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD) (PN vs radical nephrectomy [RN]), and better postoperative recovery and shorter length of stay (MIS vs open surgery).
