Underlying Rheumatic Disease: An Important Determinant of Outcome in Tricuspid Valve Repair.

CONCLUSIONS: The coexistence of mixed tricuspid valve disease in rheumatic heart disease patients undergoing left-sided valve surgery is an important determinant of outcome in tricuspid valve repair. The persistence of severe TR contributes to poor long-term outcomes, and its incidence may be lowered by the adoption of appropriate perioperative imaging techniques to delineate valve morphology.
