Schwannoma of the median nerve mimicking carpal tunnel syndrome in a pregnant patient. Case report.

Schwannoma of the median nerve mimicking carpal tunnel syndrome in a pregnant patient. Case report. Med Ultrason. 2016 Dec 05;18(4):521-523 Authors: Giasna GK, Micu MC, Micu R Abstract In patients with symptoms of a peripheral neuropathy especially during pregnancy, use of imaging techniques such as Ultrasound (US) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) may be essential for the diagnostic accomplishment. A 30-weekspregnant diabetic female attending US evaluation due to intermittent hand pain, numbness, and weakness bilaterally. Although, the US evaluation revealed the median nerve (MN) normal size, echogenicity and echo-texture within the right carpal tunnel; the US assessment applied proximally to the carpal tunnel, revealed a hypoechoic tumor-like mass and increased MN cross section area. In transverse view, the MN was detected as an eccentric, hypoechoic structure compressed by the aforementioned mass. A presence of MN schwannoma or neurofibroma was suspected. US has been proved to be extremely useful to determine location, extent as well as the type of nerve lesion. PMID: 27981288 [PubMed - in process]

TYPE 2 diabetes is a common condition yet many people in the UK will not realise they have it because the symptoms do not necessarily make you feel unwell. Symptoms are caused by consistently high blood sugar levels, and, overtime, this can affect different parts of the body, including the shoulder.

Authors: Shen X, Gao H, Chen Q, Cai R, Lyu Q, Wang Y, Wang L, Kuang Y Abstract BACKGROUND There is little research on whether normoresponsive patients who produced poor-quality embryos once verses those who produced poor-quality embryos twice when using a single COH protocol should change to a different controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) protocol. MATERIAL AND METHODS In this retrospective study, we enrolled 108 patients with 1 PPOS failure who chose to continue receiving the progestin-primed ovarian stimulation (PPOS) protocol (n=61) versus those who decided to switch to the modified ultra-long protocol (n=...

This study was aimed at evaluating the effect of pullulan coating incorporated with cinnamon essential oil (CEO) nanoemulsion on the shelf life and senescence of fresh strawberries during room storage. Pullulan-CEO nanoemulsion prepared using ultrasound treatment had smaller particle size (162.1 nm) and more uniform distribution of oil droplets. After six days of storage, pullulan-CEO nanoemulsion coating remarkably lowered the loss in fruit mass, firmness, total soluble solids and titratable acidity of strawberries. In addition, pullulan-based nanoemulsion coated strawberries showed the strongest antimicrobial activity ...
