Almost 20 percent of breast cancer patients fail to complete prescribed endocrine therapy

(European Society for Medical Oncology) Around 20 percent of breast cancer patients do not complete prescribed endocrine therapy, researchers report at the ESMO Asia 2016 Congress in Singapore. The study in over 5,500 women found that younger patients and those who had taken hormone replacement therapy were less likely to adhere to their medicine.

Abstract KRAS G12D point mutation plays an important role in the incidence of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) as well as colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer and breast cancer. Here, we developed a novel anchor-like DNA (alDNA) electrochemical sensor for the detection of KRAS point mutation level (the concentration ratio of the specific KRAS point mutant DNA (M-DNA) to the total DNA (t-DNA) of both mutant and wild-type DNAs carrying the same allele). Compared to those conventional ligation-based DNA sensors, the proposed alDNA sensor achieved the one-step capture of both wild-type and mutant DNA, and the subseq...

Askar aliAbstractThis research work was emphasized about synthesis of mixed ligands of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes of the type [M(L)(phen)] 1–4 and [M(L)(bpy)] 5–8 where, L = potassium (S, E)-2-((5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)propanoate (derived from 5-bromosalicylaldehyde and l-alanine), phen = 1, 10 phenanthroline and bpy = 2, 2′-bipyridyl. Both phen and bpy act as an auxiliary ligand. The synthesized metal(II) complexes ch...

AbstractPurpose of ReviewInterval cancers are defined as a cancer presenting in the interval following a negative screen. Interval cancers are important because they reduce confidence in the screening programme and have relatively worse prognostic features than screen-detected cancers. This review will look at the rates of interval cancers in the UK Breast screening programme and other population-based breast screening programmes in Europe. It will discuss the latest UK classification and look at factors affecting interval cancer rates. It will examine the pathological features of interval cancers and their mortality impac...

Ahmed M. El-Agrody Novel fused chromenes (4,7–11) and pyrimidines (12–16) were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for their mammary gland breast cancer (MCF-7), human colon cancer (HCT-116), and liver cancer (HepG-2) activities. The structural identity of the synthesized compounds was established according to their spectroscopic analysis, such as FT-IR, NMR, and mass spectroscopy. The preliminary results of the bioassay disclosed that some of the target compounds were proven to have a significant antiproliferative effect against the three cell lines, as compared to Doxorubicin, Vinblastine, and C...
