Agmatine modulates melanogenesis via MITF signaling pathway
Publication date: Available online 13 December 2016 Source:Environmental Toxicology and Pharmacology Author(s): Eun-Jeong Kwon, Moon-Moo Kim Agmatine contained in soybean is also found in Manaca, an anti-aging plant, inhabited in Amazon and induces vasodilation by the promotion of NO synthesis in blood vessel. However, the research of agmatine on melanin synthesis related to hair greying is lacking. The aim of this study was to investigate the melanogenic effect of agmatine via regulation of MITF signaling pathway in B16F1 cells. It was determined whether agmatine regulates melanin synthesis at cellular level in addition to the effect of agmatine on mushroom tyrosinase in vitro in the presence of different concentrations of agmatine. Furthermore, the effect of agmatine on the protein expressions of tyrosinase, TRP-1, TRP-2, BMP-4, BMP-6, C-KIT, p-p38, MITF and C-FOS were examined by western blot analysis. In addition, immunofluorescence staining was carried out to visualize the location of MITF expression in cell. Agmatine at 256μM or more increased melanin synthesis as well as tyrosinase activity. Moreover, whereas agmatine increased the expression levels of TRP-1, BMP-6, p-p38 and MITF, it reduced the expression level of BMP-4. It was also found that agmatine enhanced the expression level of MITF in nucleus. These results suggest that agmatine could induce melanin synthesis though the regulation of MITF transcription factor via BMP-6/p38 signaling pathway.

Complications still occur and patients may need to be admitted to an intensive care unit. Acute respiratory failure is the first cause of these admissions, questioning the administration of solid oral dosage formulations. This issue is also observed in geriatric units where the prevalence of dysphagia is high and underestimated. The problem of antiretroviral administr...

Authors: Soumah A, Avettand-Fenoel V, Veber F, Moshous D, Mahlaoui N, Blanche S, Frange P Abstract OBJECTIVES: To assess the outcome of HIV-infected individuals attending one of the largest French pediatric HIV centers in 2016-2017 and to compare the rates of antiretroviral coverage and virological suppression with the UNAIDS targets. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The clinical and immuno-virological status of 163 HIV-1-infected children and adolescents attending Necker Hospital in Paris, France, were investigated. Virological suppression was defined as an HIV-1 viral load
Authors: Voitey M, Bouiller K, Chirouze C, Fournier D, Bozon F, Klopfenstein T Abstract INTRODUCTION: Little is known about the functional symptoms associated with Lyme borreliosis (LB) in Europe. We aimed to assess functional symptoms associated with presumed LB and to compare patients with and without confirmed LB. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We performed a retrospective monocenter study. Patients consulting for presumed LB were included. RESULTS: Between November 2015 and June 2018, 355patients were included (mean age: 51years, 52% of women) of which 48had LB: erythema migrans (42%), early disseminated LB (50...

ConclusionThe method achieved high performance for automation of tooth segmentation on dental panoramic images. The proposed method might be applied in the first step of diagnosis automation and in forensic identification, which involves similar segmentation tasks.
ConclusionsSequestra and periosteal new bone formation were characteristic CT features of osteomyelitis that were found more commonly in the medication-related condition. These findings may be useful in the evaluation of osteomyelitis and medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw.
ConclusionAcceptance QA testing was effective in detecting discrepancies and establishing optimal exposure doses that were within the DRL and AD established by the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements and the ESE established by the state of Texas.

BroomeAbstractTreatment of bony tumours of the oral and maxillofacial area usually involve resection. However, access to certain areas may be difficult because of the size or site of the tumour. A poor view of the lesion during operation is another limiting factor, which can lead to incomplete resection in difficult cases. Percutaneous cryoablation is a common procedure for treating benign and malignant bony lesions outside the oral and maxillofacia...
