Granulocytic sarcoma of the pancreas on 18F-FDG PET/CT: A case report

Rationale: Granulocytic sarcoma (GS) is defined as leukemia infiltration in any organ other than the bone marrow. GS rarely occurs in the pancreas. Here, we present the first report of GS in the pancreas on 18F-fluorodexyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT). Patient concerns: A 19-year-old male patient with acute myeloid leukemia received a human leukocyte antigen-haploidentical stem cell transplant as a second transplant while in second complete remission. Interventions: After a second stem cell transplant, obstructive pancreatitis accompanied by a mass in the pancreatic head was observed. FDG-PET/CT revealed abnormal activity in the head of the pancreas and the skin in the patient's left breast area. Diagnoses: Pathological examination demonstrated relapsed acute myeloid leukemia in both the lesions. Outcomes: This is the first report showing the 18F-FDG PET/CT findings of GS in the pancreas. Lessons: 18F-FDG PET/CT may help determine the stage of GS.

Authors: Akhter MH, Kumar S, Nomani S Abstract Objective: In vitro, optimization, characterization and cytotoxic studies of NAR NPs to against pancreatic cancer.Method: The sonication tailored NARG loaded poly (lactide-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticle (NPs) was fabricated for potential cytotoxic effect against pancreatic cancer. NARG NPs were prepared by emulsion-diffusion evaporation technique applying Box Behnken experimental design based on 3-level and 3-factors. The effect of independent variables surfactant concentration (X1), polymer concentration (X2) and sonication time (X3) were studied on responses p...

Conclusions: Although 3D printed PSTs help to avoid the misplacement of PAs in revision deformity correction surgeries with sublaminar wires in situ, the mean number of misplaced screws per patient using this technique was found to be statistically insignificant when compared with the freehand technique in this study. Conclusions: Clinical symptoms and spinal fusion efficiency were not significantly different between CBT and PS except for postoperative improvement in low back pain. The treatment effect on postoperative low back pain was smaller for CBT than for PS. PMID: 32213798 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Conclusions: In this study, the SUV of 99mTc-MDP was successfully determined using SPECT/CT. This research provides an approach that could potentially aid in the clinical quantification of radionuclide uptake in normal vertebrae for the management of breast cancer patients. However, in CLL-like monoclonal B cell lymphocytosis (MBL) studies are scarce. Herein, a comprehensive characterization of the microenvironment in 59 MBL, 56 early stage CLL and 31 healthy controls was conducted. Gene expression arrays and qRT-PCR were performed on RNA from CD4+ peripheral blood cells; ser...

Serious Complication of Anticoagulation in Vessel Thrombosis-associated Behçet Disease. Intern Med. 2020 Mar 26;: Authors: Ouchi K, Narui R, Sakuma T, Ojiri H Abstract Anticoagulation in venous thrombosis associated with Behçet disease (BD) is controversial. We herein report a 47-year-old woman with vessel thrombosis and pulmonary artery aneurysm (PAA) associated with BD who died of massive hemoptysis under oral anticoagulant. Although she was initially diagnosed with oral contraceptive-induced venous thromboembolism, a subsequent investigation led to a diagnosis of BD. Follow-up computed...

This study aims to analyze survival rates in acute lymphocytic leukemia in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, from 1997 to 2013, according to sex, age bracket, and administrative region. This was a longitudinal study to calculate survival rates. Data on new cases of leukemia in the age bracket 0 to 14 years of age were collected from the database in the Population-Based Cancer Registry of the city of São Paulo. Population and mortality data were obtained from the Brazilian Health Informatics Department. The sample included children 0 to 14 years of age diagnosed with leukemia from 1997 to 2013, living in the city...
