Introduction Strokes are associated with sexual dysfunctions, which can result from the neurological lesion or from secondary physical or psychological factors that can interfere with sexuality. Clinical treatments must take these factors into account in order to respond to the patients’ clinical needs. Objective Present a literature review on stroke and sexuality in order to better understand the patients’ clinical needs and to offer a clinical approach that respond to these needs. Methods Literature review on PubMed, PsycINFO and Google Scholar using key words “Stroke”, “Sexuality”, “Sex” and “Sexual dysfunction”. Every relevant publication and their references were considered. Results Studies suggest an association between strokes and diminished sexual desire, lower frequency of sexual activities, erectile and ejaculatory dysfunctions in men, and arousal and orgasm dysfunctions in women.
