The growth of the Internet is changing the traditional hierarchies of ‘experts’ and changing ways of disseminating information. In the growing area of knowledge management, the Internet is enabling new ways of collecting, organizing and disseminating knowledge. Data mining is the application of improved techniques of data organization and storage and analysis to large datasets and has led to the discovery of previously unknown knowledge and relationships.
