The effect of anatomical changes on pencil beam scanned proton dose distributions for cranial and extra cranial tumors
A retrospective analysis of the PSI adaptive planning strategy has been performed. Out of a cohort of 730 patients treated with PBS proton therapy, 244 (33.5%) had control CT ’s to monitor anatomical changes. Of these, 40 patients (5.5%) required re-planning. Retrospective re-calculation of the nominal plan on re-planning CT’s indicated that 88% of analyzed OARs were within 5% of the nominal planned dose and 87%/90% of analyzed PTV/CTV’s within 5%.
