Hysteria Writing Competition Judges – Amanda Quinn

Each year we interview our volunteer judges for the Hysteria Writing Competition and I’d like to introduce Amanda Quinn.Tell me one thing no-one knows about you. That I usually lie when asked this question. I wasn’t school cross country champion. I’ve never appeared in Dangerfield. And I can’t speak German. What do you enjoy reading the most and why? Anything and everything but most of all a good comic novel like Three Men on a Boat or Billy Liar. If there was one book or piece of writing you wish you had written what would it be? The Great Gatsby which reveals something new and beautiful with every read. And for its perfect last line: ‘So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past. What prompted you to volunteer to be a judge in the Hysteria Writing Competition? A combination of altruism and curiosity. Mostly curiosity. If there was a film of your life who would play you and why? I have a doppelgänger who confuses my friends by (innocently) ignoring them. She drinks espressos and has neater hair so would do a much better job than me at being me. Where can we find out more about you?
