We report a case of necrotising fasciitis of the face caused by a group A streptococcal infection after rhytidectomy on a healthy female patient. An abscess on her hand that had been caused by an infection related to a venous catheter had provided a potential entry for the pathogen, and treatment combined both surgical debridement and antibiotics. The operation had resulted in large tissue losses around the ears, which we treated by healing by second intention.

Absorbable suture suspension is one of the newest minimally invasive treatment trends for lifting and repositioning ptotic facial tissue. The Silhouette Instalift is a convenient in-office procedure that provides a unique and advanced clinical treatment for a natural looking midfacial lift. Research has shown that most patients characterized the Silhouette Instalift as immediately effective and were pleased by enhancements. The procedure has an improved safety and efficacy profile over the predecessor, barbed suture thread lifting, coupled with reduced risk of complications and recovery time compared with rhytidectomy. Conclusions In the span of a very short time—less than a decade—robotic head and neck surgery has transformed the management of the head and neck cancer, and it seems clear that the future of treatment for these cancers lies in a multimodal approach in which TORS is likely to play an important role. Nevertheless, it is important to keep in mind that the current indications for TORS are limited and long-term data on the safety and oncological outcomes are needed to better understand the true role of TORS in treatment of head and neck cancer. Nonetheless, the emergence of ever more advanced robotic instruments i...
Surgical techniques for cosmetic facial rejuvenation, antiaging concerns, and the optimization of facial beauty can be nuanced and complex. Generally speaking, surgical interventions, including facelift, necklift, blepharoplasty, and rhinoplasty, are the gold standard approaches for the enhancement of facial features. A detailed understanding of facial anatomy, aesthetics, and techniques is necessary to master these approaches.
Conclusions: The transverse facial artery provides at least one perforator that can be accurately localized using a Doppler probe. Clinical applications related to the improved knowledge of transverse facial artery perforators could be as follows: (1) performing a lateral facial skin flap; (2) facial composite allotransplants; (3) face-lift procedures to improve skin perfusion; and (4) prevention of vessel injury in aesthetic procedures such as dermal filler injection or thread-lift techniques.
