Good and Bad Responses to a Pain Therapy: How to Discriminate Between Them? CORRESPONDENCE
AbstractOsteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic joint disease that leads to pain and functional incapacity. The aim of the study is to investigate the effects of the incorporation of photobiomodulation (PBM) (via cluster) into a physical exercise program on the level of pain, lower limb muscle strength, and physical capacity, in patients with knee OA. Sixty-two female volunteers with a diagnosis of knee OA were distributed in 4 groups: exercise associated with placebo PBM group, exercise associated with active PBM group, active PBM group, and placebo PBM group. Sixteen sessions of lower limb strength exercises and PBM via cluster...
CONCLUSIONS: HSV may induce perianal infections, anal infections and HSV proctitis. Diagnosis of HSV1 and HSV2 using PCR is recommended. Anal and genital HSV infections are a risk factor for subsequent HIV infection. The risk is higher for HSV2 infection due to more frequent recurrences. CONCLUSIONS: While the use of CAP for disinfection and wound treatment has already moved into clinical practice, further applications such as cancer treatment are still exploratory. PMID: 31965204 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
ConclusionWhile sciatic hernias are rare, lipomatous/ liposarcomatous tumors presenting as sciatic hernias are extremely rare. This case report highlights a combination of rare phenomena. The information presented adds to the current evidence that will guide accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment of future cases.
ConclusionThe surgical team is responsible for preventing this event by careful inspection of the surgical site using all the available methods and technology. Technology increases the safety but doesn’t accurately prevent the accidents. All causative human and technical factors must be addressed carefully.
We describe a technique using a fascia lata autograft to reconstruct the rotator cuff in the setting of a massive cuff tear. This is of particular importance in centers that lack the funding or institutional approval to use acellular dermal allografts that have been popularized to date.
Try to get that out of your head.
Conclusions: Therapeutic exercises and playing AVGs similarly improved the pain of patients with knee OA; however, playing AVGs improved dynamic balance, physical functional performance, and physical health more than therapeutic exercises did.
Conclusion. This study does not justify the use of botulinum toxin in the context of chronic pelvic pain with myofascial syndrome but does justify muscle injections with LA alone.
DiscussionTrapeziectomy with LRTI for thumb carpometacarpal osteoarthritis provided early subjective improvements in outcomes as early as 3 months post-procedure. However, more than 6 months are required to determine objective improvements in outcomes. To obtain early patient-reported satisfactory outcomes, we should focus not on improving hand and finger strength, but on treating postoperative surgical site pain and preventing thumb stiffness.Level of evidenceIV, retrospective therapeutic study.
