Horrifying Face Spotted In Hurricane Matthew Satellite Image

Hurricane Matthew made landfall in Haiti this week, slamming the country’s southwest coast with winds of 145 mph and flooding. Since then, Florida, South Carolina and Georgia have each declared a state of emergency as the storm makes its way toward the United States. As communities brace themselves for the severe weather, one image ― captured on Tuesday morning by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s GOES-13 satellite ― seems to convey the dark spirit of Matthew. Stu Ostro, a senior meteorologist at The Weather Channel, tweeted the photo, which viewers say shows a face with a fiery eye, teeth and a sinister smile. Reached for comment, Paul Meyer of the NASA Earth Science Office offered another photo of the hurricane. In this one, Meyer says that he sees the “head of a pretty happy dog, perhaps a Saint Bernard, with a rabies tag on its collar.” Check it out: -- This feed and its contents are the property of The Huffington Post, and use is subject to our terms.
