New device enables rapid identification of brain cancer type and tumor margin

(Nagoya University) Researchers centered at Nagoya University developed a device for rapidly determining whether a brain sample is positive for a mutation commonly associated with glioma, a type of brain cancer with poor prognosis. This device is accurate and quick to use, enabling diagnosis of tumor type and determination of tumor margins during an operation. This breakthrough should improve decision-making by surgeons and ultimately help reduce glioma-related mortality.
