Stressors in anaesthesiology: development and validation of a new questionnaire: A cross-sectional study of Portuguese anaesthesiologists
CONCLUSION: SQA is a well adjusted measure for assessing stressors in anaesthesia physicians and includes clinical, organisational and team stress factors. Results showed that the SQA is a robust and reliable instrument.

While recreational marijuana is legal in 11 states as of November 2019, more states gravitating toward legalizing the recreational use of the substance, and 33 states allowing medical marijuana, there’s apparently no stopping this trend. Cannabis, in the form of marijuana, hemp, and cannabidiol (CBD) is being used for pain relief, to alleviate stress, cope with anxiety, and a number of other mental health disorders and addictions. Yet, there’s a dearth of clinical studies that have been conducted on the overall effects on a user’s health. Clearly, as Crain’s Detroit Business points out, more ...
CONCLUSIONS: Administration of midazolam as premedication for laparotomy patients did not improve the quality of recovery up to one week after surgery. General prescription of midazolam as premedication can be questioned and might only suit some patients. TRIAL REGISTRATION: www.clinicaltrials.gov (NCT01993459); registered 29 October, 2013. ConclusionCatastrophizing was associated with acute pain intensity, and lower pain-related catastrophizing among patients with acute herpes zoster was associated with less risk of PHN development, independent of acute pain intensity.
Conclusion: Regular survey of patients' satisfaction should help to improve the quality of medical care. The strong excitement of the patient about the upcoming anesthesia and surgery, and the presence of a high level of anxiety and depression can be factors of reducing the patients' satisfaction with anesthesia. It requires psychological support of patients at the stage of surgical treatment.
Conclusion: ADHD Rats were not sensitive to postoperative neurocognitive disorder (PND). Surgery with general anesthesia could partly improve the hyperactivity symptom of ADHD rats. This mechanism was related to the suppression of neural activity in cerebral NAc of ADHD rats induced by general anesthetics.
ConclusionRepeated intake of caffeine aggravates PTSD-like symptoms in stress-exposed rats and induces PTSD-like symptoms in unstressed rats by altering the expression of glucocorticoid receptors.Graphical abstract
CONCLUSIONS: This retrospective study with propensity-matched cohorts showed that cannabinoid use was associated with higher pain scores and a poorer quality of sleep in the early postoperative period in patients undergoing major orthopedic surgery. PMID: 31425232 [PubMed - in process]
Co - use associated with anxiety and depression symptoms compared with opioid use alone
Conclusion and Recommendation: Our study showed higher magnitude of awareness with recall under general anesthesia. Lack of premedication was the only associated factor with awareness with recall under general anesthesia. Anesthetists should give emphasis to prevent the possibility of awareness under general anesthesia by providing premedication. Cohort studies should be done including the consequences of awareness with recall under general anesthesia. PMID: 31360165 [PubMed]
