Comparison of ultrasound interventional and laparoscopic surgeries for ovarian cyst pediculotorsion

Conclusions Ultrasound interventional surgery has quite the same curative effect as laparoscopic surgery in ovarian cyst pedicle pediculotorsion, which also can reduce the surgical trauma, shorten the operation time and lower the operation cost.

Authors: Altiparmak B, Toker MK, Uysal Aİ, Kuşçu Y, Demirbilek SG Abstract BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The primary aim of this study is to assess the effect of ultrasoung-guided erector spinae block on postoperative opioid consumption after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The secondary aims are to assess the effects of erector spinae plane block on intraoperative fentanyl need and postoperative pain scores. METHODS: Patients between 18-70 years old, ASA I-II were included in the study and randomly allocated into two groups. In Group ESP, patients received bilateral US-ESP with 40ml of 0.25% bupivacaine at...

A 41-year-old nulliparous woman underwent assisted reproductive technology (ART) for infertility (stimulation cycles for oocyte retrieval, and embryo transfers). After two biochemical miscarriages, ultrasound and laparoscopy were performed. She reported dysmenorrhea and left sided pelvic pain. Apart from hypothyroidism, her medical history was unremarkable: of note, there was no history of laparoscopic myomectomy. Initial laparoscopy revealed “bubbles of angry-looking tissue”: biopsy reported endometriosis; cytology on peritoneal washings was negative for malignancy.

This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility, safety and efficacy of transvaginal ultrasound- and laparoscopy-guided PMWA for the treatment of adenomyosis.Materials and methods: From May 2015 to October 2017, a total of 70 patients with symptomatic adenomyosis who underwent transvaginal ultrasound- and laparoscopy-guided PMWA were included in this study. The technical efficacy and complications of PMWA were assessed. Meanwhile, the uterine volume, lesion volume, symptom severity score (SSS) and visual analog scale (VAS) score before PMWA and at 1, 6 and 12 months after PMWA were recorded. Results: PMWA was successful...

Authors: Xu MM, Dawod E, Gaidhane M, Tyberg A, Kahaleh M Abstract Superior mesenteric artery syndrome (SMAS) causes compression and partial or complete obstruction of the duodenum, resulting in abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and weight loss. If conservative therapy fails, the patient is typically referred for enteral feeding or laparoscopic gastrojejunostomy. The last few years have seen increasing use of endoscopic ultrasound-guided gastrojejunostomy (EUS-GJ) for gastric obstruction indications. EUS-GJ involves the creation of a gastric bypass via an echoendoscope in cases in which the small intestine can be pu...

This study compared uterine wound healing after robot-assisted laparoscopic myomectomy (RM) and laparoscopic myomectomy (LM). Ultrasound was used to evaluate the scar repair of uterine wounds at 1, 3, and 6 months postoperatively. Ninety-three RM and 110 LM patients were enrolled. More myomas excised using RM were type 1∼type 3(51.1%) and more myomas excised using LM were type 4∼type 6(54.2%), p

Conclusion: Molecular-weight heparin and intraoperative intermittent pneumatic compression controls the hypercoagulation effect more efficiently when it is administered 1 hour before surgery: it causes significant reduction of F1+2, TAT, and MP-TF indexes and significant increases of fTFPI levels during and after laparoscopic fundoplication.
