In this study, a novel hybrid scaffold made of transition metal was prepared on the base of graphene. After characterization of the synthetic Mo0.25Co1.257W0.25S3 hybridized with graphene oxide (MCWS/GO) using XRD, EDX, and FESEM, the cytotoxicity and the cell apoptosis of the composite were assumed using MTT and Annexin V/PI flow-cytometry methods, respectively. To treat spinal cord and sciatic nerve injuries, ethidium bromide induced damages was used in rats by T-10 to T-12 laminectomy and sciatic nerve stimulation. The spinal subarachnoid space was perfused with normal saline in control groups in comparison with using M...

AbstractPurpose of ReviewCellular therapy started in the early twentieth century with the development of blood transfusion and later bone marrow transplantation. This review describes the historical origins and major milestones in the field of cellular therapy. We discuss ethical concerns associated with certain cell sources and how they influenced therapy strategies. A focus of this article is on the use of stem cells to understand regenerative repair after kidney injury. In addition, we give an overview over past and current kidney-related cellular therapy trials.Recent FindingsThe number of kidney-related cellular thera...

AbstractBackgroundAutologous stem-cell transplantation (ASCT) is a common treatment for lymphoma but it has some mortality.MethodsAll 433 lymphoma patients who underwent ASCT for lymphoma at Karolinska Huddinge 1994 –2016 were investigated, including CD34+ cell amounts, medications, infectious and other complications, intensive care, longitudinal laboratory values, and secondary myeloid neoplasia.ResultsThe 100-day non-relapse and overall mortalities were 5.6% and 7.2%. Stem-cell harvests

This study provides a possible reason why genes carrying health risks have persisted in human populations. The second found evidence for multiple variants in genes related to ageing that exhibited antagonistic pleiotropic effects. They found higher risk allele frequencies with large effect sizes for late-onset diseases (relative to early-onset diseases) and an excess of variants with antagonistic effects expressed through early and late life diseases. There also exists other recent tangible evidence of antagonistic pleiotropy in specific human genes. The SPATA31 gene has been found under strong positive genomic sele...

This article reviews the treatment advances in HL with incorporation of novel and targeted agents that are aimed to improve cure rates while reducing toxicities. Expert opinion: Brentuximab vedotin (BV) and checkpoint inhibitors have demonstrated clear clinical benefit in HL. Majority of patients receive BV before or directly after AHCT as part of salvage or maintenance regimens. In patients who relapse after AHCT, checkpoint inhibitors are the treatment of choice, either as stand-alone therapy, or more commonly as bridge to a potential curative allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (alloHCT). Multitude of other ta...

ConclusionThis instructive case demonstrates that HHV6 reactivation after autologous PBSCT can be associated with atypical lymphocytosis of characteristic CD4+/CD8+ cells and subsequent prolonged pancytopenia. HHV6 is known to induce expression of CD4 in CD8+ lymphocytes, and that viral reactivation likely led to the observed CD4+/CD8+ lymphocytosis. As autologous HCT remains a component of MM comprehensive therapy, transplant infectious diseases specialists and HCT physicians are encouraged to have a low index of suspicion for HHV6 reactivation when assessing MM patients who develop persistent fevers, rashes, atypical lym...
