Ambulance Company Sues the City of Huntington Beach, Calif.

An ambulance company has sued the city of Huntington Beach, claiming the city has restricted fair, open-market competition by not allowing its fleet to operate in the city. In its complaint, filed Monday in federal court, Carson-based AmeriCare MedServices, Inc. There's a turf war brewing in Southern California, as Huntington Beach has been limiting the private companies it relies on for backup ambulance service to only three vendors. AmeriCare has filed suit hoping to get a piece of the business. Billing continues to be a top issue for private vendors, some of which have gone out of business after failing to secure payment.
