From Headlines to the Emergency Department: Today ’s Top Issues Investigated at ACEP16

WASHINGTON — Simply put, what happens in Las Vegas this fall- saves lives. Nearly 8,000 emergency physicians from across the country will gather at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center October 15-19 for ACEP 16, the nation’s largest annual gathering and educational venue for emergency medicine. Hundreds of seminars and research presentations will cover the vast array of issues facing emergency medicine professionals today including new drugs of abuse, transgender issues, the Zika virus and the ramifications of the presidential election. If an issue is in the news, it’s in the nation’s emergency departments.    ACEP16 is an opportunity for reporters to engage with emergency physicians as they immerse themselves in the medical, social and political issues converging on the nation’s emergency departments each day. The news media is invited to attend any and all educational courses, labs and simulated disasters along with the top emergency physicians from every corner of the nation. A full-scale demonstration of emergency medicine at work will be displayed at Code Black: A Disaster Response, in the ACEP16 innovatED educational space in the Exhibit Hall.     In addition to the educational programming, hundreds of new studies releasing the latest findings in emergency medicine will be on display Monday and Tuesday at the ACEP16 Research Forum.
