Early Complete Response to Corticosteroids in T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: Report of a Case and Review of the Literature

T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is an aggressive malignant neoplasm of the bone marrow. It accounts for ∼20% of all cases of ALL. It is more common in adults than children, although the incidence diminishes in older age. Its clinical presentation usually includes hyperleukocytosis with extramedullary involvement, frequent central nervous system infiltration and the presence of a mediastinal mass. Mu tations of NOTCH1 and FBW7 are also frequent and are correlated with a better prognosis while the presence of RAS/PTEN is associated with a poor outcome.
