Managing Memories: Treating and Controlling Homesickness during the Civil War

AbstractAlthough it has disappeared as a clinical diagnosis, a Disability Studies perspective on Civil War nostalgia offers an opportunity to recover the process by which understanding around a medical event occurs. By incorporating and examining the interplay between and among participants in the conversation surrounding nostalgia as they operate within various site specific temporal and social contexts, this method of analysis offers an opportunity to arrive at an understanding not only of the factors that contribute to different perspectives on an illness, but also into how some voices become ascendant in constructing medical understanding and why others become subordinate, dismissed, or disappear.

IrwinAbstractDepression, one of the most common mental health disorders, is among the leading causes of health-related disability worldwide. Although antidepressant treatment has been available for decades, depression remains largely refractory to the prevailing limited treatment approach of monoamine transmission modulation. Fortunately, recent evidence points to a link between depression and inflammatory factors within the innate and the adaptive immune system. The purpose of this review is to eva...

Conclusions and implicationsA picture of relatively positive sibling adjustment and relationships emerged, but findings of individual differences and some emotional difficulties emphasise the need for an individualised approach to support in families of children with WS.

Conclusions1 in 5 depressed older patients have a course with functional recovery. Combining functional and symptomatic recovery points to a subgroup of older patients that might profit from more rigorous psychiatric treatment targeted at psychiatric comorbidity and a group of frail depressed older patients that might profit from integrated geriatric rehabilitation.

Cette reconnaissance, pas encore appliquée en France, émerge dans un contexte où l’obésité comme maladie à soigner semble faire consensus. Le développement de la chirurgie de l’obésité et ses r&eacu...

I was out of work for 31 days, from August 16 until September 17. The reason is because I had surgery on my left knee, an arthroscopy of the medial meniscus. It got damaged somehow; the cause is unknown to me. It started becoming problematic sometime around Christmas 2018, but I didn’t really pay much attention to it. I figured it had to be something fairly minor which would resolve itself. However, it didn’t. And ultimately it led to my being evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon, having to get X-Rays and Magnetic Resonance Imaging on my knee, and finally having the surgical procedure performed to fix the problem...
