Conclusion:: Two clinical trials demonstrated efficacy in reducing cardiovascular complications, of cataract or retinopathy and nephropathy and all the quasi-experimental studies showed effectiveness in reducing feet ulcers, peripheral neuropathy and vasculopathy, and maintenance of kidney function.
