We present a rare case of lumbo-sacral angioleiomyoma in a 54-year-old man. Apart from this unusual site, the most striking morphological feature was the presence of numerous keloid-like collagen fibers interspersed among the fascicles of the neoplastic cells. Radiological, morphological and immunohistochemical features are presented, and differential diagnosis with its potential morphological mimickers is discussed. Conclusion: TPH1, Cx43 and TRPV1 were overexpressed in the samples of keloid patients, indicating that the pruritus and pain of keloid might be related to these factors. Furthermore, TPH1, Cx43 and TRPV1 were expressed highest in keloid patients without HBO therapy, indicating that HBO therapy might relief pruritus of keloid patients by regulating these factors. BACKGROUND Keloids and hypertrophic scars often result after skin trauma. Currently, intralesional triamcinolone acetonide (TAC) is the criterion standard in nonsurgical management of keloids and hypertrophic scars. Intralesional verapamil may be an effective alternative modality, but it has been insufficiently studied. Accordingly, the study authors conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials to compare the efficacy and safety of the two drugs. METHODS The study authors systematically searched the MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databa...

AbstractScarring of the face following chemical peeling is an uncommon and devastating complication. This case report describes the successful treatment of bulky mature keloids on both cheeks following deep chemical peeling by using a combined approach of intralesional cryosurgery followed by pulsed dye and ablative fractional CO2 laser therapy.Level of evidence: Level V, therapeutic study.

Conclusions These histopathologic findings suggest that FIB/SEM tomography is useful for distinguishing between HSs and keloids and can provide important knowledge for understanding the pathogenesis of keloids.

In this study, we intravenously administrated the young mitochondria into aged mice to evaluate whether energy production increase in aged tissues or age-related behaviors improved after the mitochondrial transplantation. The results showed that heterozygous mitochondrial DNA of both aged and young mouse coexisted in tissues of aged mice after mitochondrial administration, and meanwhile, ATP content in tissues increased while reactive oxygen species (ROS) level reduced. Besides, the mitotherapy significantly improved cognitive and motor performance of aged mice. Our study, at the first report in aged animals, not only prov...

Hypoxia inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) is known to be important in skin aging, involved in the regulation of numerous processes relevant to the maintenance and structure of skin tissue. One of these is the growth of blood vessels that is required for regeneration to take place following injury. The dysfunction of HIF-1 signaling and consequent dysfunction in blood vessel regrowth is a feature of the varieties of non-healing wounds that are observed in older people. The open access paper here reviews what is known of HIF-1 in this context. Oxygen is key to many processes of life and is involved in all stages of wound h...
