50 facets of a trait —50 ways to mess up?

The idea of multifaceted personality traits has inspired the construction of many personality questionnaires. Empirical evidence supports the utility of these facets in many cases. Still, doubts remain, especially regarding other aspects such as reliability and construct validity. This editorial is meant to provide a different look onto the concept of facets. Moreover problems, which should be addressed when proposing a facetted measure, are discussed.
