Although statins are powerful therapeutic option for achieving target low- and high-density lipoprotein levels, it is of interest to seek for alternative treatments for dyslipidemia. Phyllanthus emblica and Alpinia galangal were found to have hypolipidemic effects. However, the mechanisms underlying their bioactivity have not yet...

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Insulin resistance, especially that induced by obesity, plays a central role in the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Although the evaluation of overweight patients is important, the nutritional assessment tools used in clinical practice have limitations. Neck circumference (NC), from this, becomes a viable and low-cost alternative, which seems to be related to the accumulation of fat in the hepatic tissue. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association between NC and metabolic alterations in patients with non- alcoholic fatty liver disease. METHODS: A cross-sectional study performed in 82 pati...

ConclusionmiR-29a-3p played a functional role in insulin receptor signaling in the liver of ZDF rats. YPHL decoction attenuated IR in T2DM probably by down-regulating or maintaining the miR-29a-3p level, increasing the expression of IRS1 mRNA and its phosphorylated proteins, and regulating the expression of insulin receptor signaling-related proteins. YPHL may prove to be an alternative treatment for T2DM.Graphical abstract

Gelator1 forms a strong gel in DMSO –H2O and the morphology of the xerogel shows a tiny rod-like fibrous network. The gel of1 shows a selective response toward CN− and F− ions causing gel-to-sol transformation. The gel of1 acts as an efficient matrix for adsorption and removal of anionic dyes such as erythrosine B and uranine from water. To cite this art...

CONCLUSION: Arterial hypertension and elevated diastolic blood pressure are associated with a risk for AS requiring surgery in subjects below 60 years of age. Strict blood pressure control in this group is strongly advocated to avoid other cardiovascular diseases correlated to hypertension. If hypertension and elevated diastolic blood pressure are risk factors for developing AS requiring surgery need further investigations. Notably, elevated fasting glucose levels were related to AS requiring surgery in older adults without concomitant CAD. PMID: 31109205 [PubMed - in process]

Authors: Imga NN, Karci AC, Oztas D, Berker D, Guler S Abstract Introduction: Vitamin D deficiency is a common problem, and it is related to increased risk of obesity, metabolic syndrome, atherosclerosis, and cardiovascular disease. Vitamin D has a beneficial effect on dyslipidemia and insulin secretion. We aimed to investigate the impact of vitamin D3 supplementation on anthropometric and laboratory parameters in overweight and obese premenopausal women. Material and methods: Seventy-two overweight and 50 obese vitamin-D-deficient premenopausal women (mean age: 43.1 ±10.4 years) were included in the stu...
