Diagnostic performance of MDCT angiography in penetrating atherosclerotic aortic ulcer and its complications compared with digital subtraction angiography

Conclusion Multi-detector CT angiography is an accurate, non-invasive tool which has the ability to detect and characterize aortic PAUs correctly and comparable to conventional angiography.

ConclusionHigh-quality CT and CT angiography can be achieved in ECMO patients of different ages and clinical issues considering the type of ECMO circulation, ECMO cannulation sites, preferred contrast phase and anatomy of interest. CT diagnoses affect the treatment of the patient.

Conclusion: Better visualization of the extent of neovascularization is obtained using SS-OCT or SD-OCT compared with ICGA, which may be influenced by choroidal permeability and dye leakage. Neovascularization area on OCTA may become an objective parameter in the follow-up of age-related macular degeneration patients, along with traditional imaging techniques.

Purpose: To determine the density of the choroidal vasculature by high-quality structure en face optical coherence tomography (OCT) scanned at the same time as OCT angiography in eyes with central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). Methods: Thirty-five eyes of 30 patients with CSC (20 men and 10 women; average age, 48.4 years) were studied. Volume scans (12 × 12 mm-square) were obtained at the same time as OCT angiographic scans (Plex Elite 9000; Swept-Source OCT, Zeiss). High-quality structure en face images were flattened at Bruch membrane and binarized to identify and quantify the choroidal vascular density by t...

CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) and transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) are the widely accepted imaging modalities for the detection and assessment of pulmonary embolism (PE) severity; however, CTPA and TTE have limitations when estimating of RV function. Catheter-directed therapy (CDT) in the form of thrombectomy/thrombolysis is a novel therapeutic option for patients with large clot burden and right ventricular dysfunction. In order to appropriately select patients who could benefit from CDT and monitor therapeutic outcomes, accurate estimates of right ventricular (RV) function is necessary.

CT angiography offers excellent anatomic detail necessary for vascular procedural planning including endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). However, patients with renal insufficiency are at risk for acute renal failure due to iodinated contrast administration. Catheter-directed CT angiography is a technique in which dilute iodinated contrast is injected into an intra-aortic pigtail catheter during the CT scan. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of this technique.

This study compares the effect of Helicobacter (H.) pylori and Lactobacillus (L.) acidophilus on the cytokine profile of PBMCs of 5 men with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) and 5 men with normal/insignificant angiography, CT-Scan and ultrasonography results in the single-culture and in the co-culture with HUVECs. IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-9, IL-10, IL-13, IL-17A, IL-17 F, IL-21, IL-22, IFN-γ and TNF-α were measured in culture supernatants using a commercial fluorescent-labeled-bead assay. In general, CagA+ H. pylori-extract induced higher production of IFN-γ, IL-13 and IL-21 by PBMCs. Treatment of ...

This study demonstrates the feasibility of a fully automated technology for the accurate detection and identification of several anatomical reference points (landmarks), commonly used in intravascular imaging. This technology uses two different approaches, specially designed for the detection of aortic root and supra-aortic and visceral branches. In order to adjust the parameters of the developed algorithms, a total of 33 computed tomography scans with different types of pathologies were selected. Furthermore, a total of 30 independently selected computed tomography scans were used to assess their performance. Accuracy was...

AbstractTranscranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasound is a standard tool used in the setting of recent sub-arachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). By tracking velocity in the circle-of-Willis vessels, vasospasm can be detected as interval velocity increase. For this disease process, repeated TCD velocity measurements over many days is the basis for its usefulness. However, a key limitation to TCD is its user dependence, which is itself largely due to the fact that exact information about probe positioning is lost between subsequent scans. Surface point cloud ultrasound (SPC-US) was recently introduced as a general approach combining ultrasoun...

Japanese Survey of Radiation Dose Associated With Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography - 2013 Data From a Multicenter Registry in Daily Practice. Circ J. 2020 Feb 18;: Authors: Tanabe Y, Kido T, Kimura F, Kobayashi Y, Matsunaga N, Yoshioka K, Yoshimura N, Mochizuki T Abstract BACKGROUND: Although coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) is frequently used for identifying coronary artery disease, no studies have investigated the radiation dose in detail in Japan. The aim of this study was to estimate the radiation dose of coronary CTA in Japanese clinical practice and to identify the indepe...
